Course levels

Our course structure is designed around capability, not labels. Each level explains what you will work on and what a reasonable next step looks like. If you are between levels, contact us and describe your experience so we can recommend the best fit.

Surfing is conditions-dependent. We adapt lesson content to the beach and weather on the day while keeping the same learning goals and safety standards.

Beginner

First Wave Foundations

A welcoming introduction for new surfers. We start with beach-based skills and controlled practice, then move into catching smaller waves with a focus on calm, repeatable technique. You learn how to hold and carry a board safely, how to paddle efficiently, and how to pop up with stability.

Intermediate

Control and Consistency

For surfers who can catch waves sometimes and want to improve consistency, positioning, and directional control. We focus on reading sets, choosing waves, paddling timing, and building smoother trim. You will practice refining your takeoff, holding a line, and initiating simple turns.

What a session includes

Every course level follows a consistent structure so you always know what you are working on. We begin with a conditions check and a clear plan, then move through drills that match the day. You leave with a small set of priorities to practice safely between coached sessions.

Conditions briefing

We read the beach together: swell direction, tide movement, wind impact, and safe zones. This builds the habit of checking conditions before every surf.

Beach drills

Pop up rehearsal, stance adjustments, and simple movement cues that transfer directly to the water. Repetition on land makes in-water practice calmer.

In-water coaching

Positioning, timing, and technique cues based on what is happening in the moment. We keep instructions clear so you can apply them immediately.

Review and next steps

A short recap of what worked and what to focus on next. You leave with a simple practice plan that fits your level and the conditions you typically surf.
